RCC-2000W capacitor control central station

RCCS model RCC-2000W is a comprehensive centralized capacitor control software product. RCC-2000W augments a utility's primary SCADA/EMS facilities by off-loading down-line VAr management to a Windows NT processor. RCC-2000W obtains near-real-time substation load and voltage data directly from a utility's existing SCADA facilities. The RCCS-SCADA interface is uncomplicated and is compatible with all SCADA systems. RCCS determines switching requirements using closed loop VAr and voltage control algorithms. It dispatches switching commands down-line via private or commercial wireless means (radio, paging, cellular) or by other available communication alternative. It monitors circuit and transformer VArs and immediately reports switches or capacitors that fail to operate.

RCC-2000W is a mature utility product. Initial product installations date back to 1987 with Union Electric, Commonwealth Edison, Indianapolis Power, Iowa Power and others. The valuable experience, earned through developing centralized capacitor controllers for these utilities and for many others that followed, has afforded RCCS an accumulation of expert application knowledge. This know-how and understanding of centralized capacitor control is packaged as the RCC-2000W product.

RCC-2000W is supplied complete and fully operational. The product includes a commitment by RCCS to accommodate a utility's operational preferences, to efficiently interface with their available SCADA/EMS and wireless facilities, and to train and support their staff in daily use of the system.

RCCS expert application software and comprehensive system integration services lets utilities enjoy the financial and operational benefits of closed-loop VAr control far sooner and at lower cost than is possible with other approaches.
